The Azul y Garanza vineyards are located in the Bardenas Reales Nature Reserve. Founders Dani Sánchez, María Barrena and Fernando Barrena work with “landscapes” with each of their plots enjoying as much biological diversity as this harsh and dry Navarra climate allows. The surrounding plants, shrubs, trees, animals and insects play as big a role in the success of the grapes as the vines themselves. Dani, María and Fernando are passionate about organic farming and have invested in working their vineyards 100% organically, without the use of pesticides, insecticides or chemical fertilizers that destroy life in the soil. The winemaking here is very natural with almost the exclusive use of concrete vats, clay amphorae and natural yeasts. Very limited use of sulphite and a lot of passion. The bodega Azul y Garanza, built between 1940 and 1960, and partly underground, consists of small concrete tanks with a capacity between 4,000 and 20,000 liters, for a total capacity of 200,000 liters. This allows the grapes from different soils to be vinified well separately. This is a fundamental ingredient in the quality of the bodega's wines. In this way, Azul y Garanza wines can express the terroir in a natural way. Class for a very nice price.
