In the heart of the Langhe, in the hamlet of Bussia di Monforte d’Alba, lies Cascina Sciulun, a typical historic farmhouse built according to the architectural traditions of Piedmont.
The house, built in the mid-nineteenth century and extended in the forties, has always been owned by the Conterno family.
The Franco Conterno company has deep roots here and has been part of the family for decades. It was nonno Pietro who planted 18 hectares of vineyard with Nebbiolo, initially to sell to other wineries, later to make prestigious wines himself.
The company passed to his son Giacomo and then to his grandson Franco, who in 1995 took over the winery together with his wife Vilma and gave his own name and identity to the company.
In recent years, Franco’s two sons, Daniele and Andrea, have followed in their grandfather’s footsteps. They brought new insight and innovation to the winery and vineyards and continue the family business with passion and dedication.
Cascina Sciulun now includes a farmhouse where you can stay for a relaxing visit, in the beautiful and peaceful hills of the Langhe.
The grapes come from the Barbera vineyards of Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Novello and Madonna di Como, where the terrain is very steep and rich in clay and tuff. The wine is fermented in stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged for 12 months in large oak barrels.
