The Gebrüder Nittnaus winery is located in Gols in Burgenland, Austria's largest wine-growing community. The family has owned vineyards for over 300 years and the 2 brothers Hans Michael and Andreas Nittnaus have been running the business since 2019 with the support of their parents Hans & Christine. They grow their grape varieties with the utmost care - sustainably and according to ecological principles.
The shallow Neusiedl See, where the vineyards are located, creates fog in autumn and causes the famous fungus "Botrytis Cinerea" on the grapes. This makes small holes in the skin and ensures that they continue to ripen and dry out on the truss. By stopping the fermentation in the cellar, there is a low alcohol content and a hefty high residual sugar of 158 gr per liter.
