d'Orfeuilles
Domaine d'Orfeuilles dates from 1947 and covers 20 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 30 years. The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Chancay and Reugny in the heart of the Vouvray. The current owner is Arnaud Herivault, the grandson of the founder. Only Vouvray is made. The soil consists of clay, calcareous clay and silex 'flint'. The average production per year is around 1100 hectoliters and consists of vouvray sec, moelleux and sometimes liquoreux. The vineyards are cultivated in an ecologically responsible manner. Harvesting takes place between the end of September and the end of October; grape bunches are cut selectively at a time, depending on the type of wine they want to make. These are brought to the cellars in small quantities and deposited in the cuves. This is done without mechanical aids to prevent damage to the grapes and therefore premature oxidation. Traditional and meticulous working is done here at all stages of the process to guarantee the renowned quality of the wine.
