Description
Tenuta di Sesta has spent years diligently working in the company's three best Brunello vineyards. Since the Duelecci vineyard has always been the best of these, it was decided to dedicate this prestigious bottle to it. The vineyard has an excellent location on the gentle slope of a hill on the south side of Montalcino, where all the estate's vineyards are located. Depending on the season, the Duelecci Riserva will be produced either in the east or west of this vineyard: in fact, the very stony soil on the east side of the vineyard lends itself to this wine in cooler years, while the west side is less skeletal is and shows the best quality in the driest years. The Riserva di Brunello Duelicci est or Duelecci Ovest will determine the character of the vintage from the vineyard.
Thanks to the dark garnet hue, you recognize this as Brunello as soon as this beautiful wine is poured from the bottle. The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Duelecci Est 2013 shows that sultry and sophisticated look you get with Sangiovese expertly aged for six years. The bouquet is infused with dried cherries, wild berries, licorice root, fall foliage and lightly toasted herb. The wine offers an excellent aromatic intensity that is direct and powerful but also elegant. About 3,000 bottles were made.
Tenuta di Sesta is located in the southern part of the municipality of Montalcino, between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell'Abate, near the famous Romanesque abbey of Sant'Antimo, on a south-facing slope that goes downhill from 400 to 200 meters above sea level. These lands are considered one of the most suitable areas for the production of Brunello di Montalcino, given their specific location: in fact, the vineyards in the north are sheltered from the cold winds from the north by the Poggio d'Arna and enjoy the warm Maremma currents thanks to the proximity of Monte Amiata which favors a mild microclimate. Thanks to its enchanting location in Sesta, it is possible to enjoy the fruits of the earth well before other regions.
