Bodegas Pedro Escudero has established itself as one of the bestsellers from the Rueda region in less than 20 years. With modern labels that are representative of the style of the wines, the Escudero family has stolen many Verdejo hearts in a short time. The wines respond to the trend in the market for digestible and pleasantly drinkable wines with that little bit extra.
The grapes come from the 'El Viejo' plot in the vineyard 'Pago de Fuente Elvira' in La Seca. These vineyards are completely free of chemicals. The vines are 50 years old. The soil consists of rocks and a sub-layer of clay.
The grapes ferment with wild yeasts in small steel vats in a cooled room at a temperature of 13-14 degrees. The wine then matures for another 3 months on the lees and rests for 3 months in the bottle.
