Description
Blend: 100% Chardonnay, single vineyard of 0.3 ha plot in Villers Allerand 1er Cru.
Harvest: 2014.
Bottled: July 2015.
Aging: French oak barrels.
Dosage: 0gr / l.
Disgorged: August 2018.
A kaleidoscope of deep yellow and green with dazzling flashes of paler green plus a vibrant stream of tiny bubbles that form a delicate mousse ring. All signs of a fresh and versatile wine this Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs.
The first impression on the nose is of flint, star anise and breadcrumbs with hints of lemon and fresh hazelnuts. As the wine breathes, we discover notes of licorice peach and grapefruit with lemon zest, cashews, black currant buds and the scent of acacia and roses.
On the palate, there is an instant sense of smoothness and freshness with a soft, creamy fizz, followed by a round fruitiness supported by a tight acidity of lemon zest. The middle palette is round with a clay and flint-like minerality, some fruitiness and body, a certain bitterness and aromas of humus and flint. Generally a wine with a great richness that extends to a long, spicy and straight aftertaste.
