Description
Castel Grand Vin is the first red wine from Domaine du Castel. The grape varieties used to make this wine are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, harvested from the winery's finest vineyards. Prior to bottling, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, most brand new, for approximately 16 months, followed by approximately 4 months in concrete tanks. Castel Gran Vin is a classic, elegant wine with a deep color and a concentrated and complex bouquet of blackberries, spices and fine (but tangible) tannins. This is a balanced wine, with a velvety softness and a long, clean finish. It is recommended to decant the wine before serving. All wines are kosher under Badatz Beit Yosef hechsher.
The archaeological evidence found in almost every corner of the country leaves no doubt: grapes grew and wine was made here on the grounds of Domaine du Castel. Historical sources reveal that the Judean region was considered the pinnacle of wine country ("Judah, your brothers will praise you," Genesis 49). From the very beginning, up to the present day, Castel continues to plant these vineyards, cultivate the soils and study the unique terroir with a vision of quality as their guide. All these vineyards are located in the Judean Hills, within a 4.5 km radius from the wine estate, at an average elevation of about 750 meters above sea level.
