Description
Roter Veltliner perfectly reflects the terroir of the Wagram region. It grows almost exclusively in this part of the world. In the scent it shows ripe yellow fruit and some citrus notes, mainly yellow pear and orange peel predominate. Marzipan and some white bread are also provided. Likewise on the palate - creamy, with a good structure and a nice balance.
The Mehofer vineyards are the northernmost tip of the Wagram region, which stretches from the Danube to the wine estate, which lies just northwest of Vienna. The geological features of the region in combination with consistent weather and climatic patterns form the basis for full-bodied wines, rich in aroma and flavor. Loess layers formed in the Ice Age cover the substrate of marine deposits and river gravel. This results in spicy wines with substance and drinking pleasure, even in a fairly low-alcohol classic style.
