The Giraud family has been growing its grapes since 1650 in the best part of the cognac region, the Grande Champagne. These are crus from one vineyard and from one vintage.
The grapes, Ugni-blanc, come from their own 42-hectare estate on a calcareous clay soil. The Paul Giraud estate is known not only for its premier cru eau-de-vie, but also for its emphasis on traditional production methods, such as hand-picking the grapes and using the traditional copper Alambic Charentais still.
The estate uses organic farming techniques, which means there are no chemicals or pesticides in their eau-de-vie, providing a purer, more authentic flavor profile and a distinctive depth of character.
To ensure the highest quality, Giraud harvests manually. No caramel is added and the distillates are aged in the very best oak barrels from Limousin.
