These wines are a dream come true for Sara Martinez-Lagos and Leon Florez, who have over 26 years of combined experience in the wine business. They chose the name Latido de Sara – “Sara’s Heartbeat” – in honor of Sara’s father who passed away a few years ago and who always encouraged her to follow her own path and make her own wine.
The Latido de Sara wines are made in the oldest winery in the province of Navarra – San Martin de Unx – which also has the best and oldest Garnacha grapes in the area. Many of the vines are planted on gentle slopes (~650 meters altitude), which are a unique feature of the Navarra landscape. Their wines are mainly based on Garnacha (Grenache) grapes, from low-yielding vines that are over 30 years old, while the Crianza also contains Tempranillo. They use a small amount of local Navarra oak barrels in the Crianza, to support the region and the landscape.
The general philosophy of the range - white, rosé and red - is to produce intensely flavoured and complex wines that faithfully reflect the nature and terroir of the province of Navarra.
In the vineyards they do not use pesticides or chemical fertilisers and follow some biodynamic farming principles.
