Cellers Scala Dei is a winery in the Priorat region of Catalonia, Spain, known for producing high-quality wines that reflect the area’s unique terroir. Founded in 1973, the winery takes its name from the nearby Carthusian monastery of Scala Dei, which dates back to the 12th century.
The winery owns over 20 hectares of vineyards, which are planted with a variety of grape varieties, including Garnacha, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 400-700 meters and are planted on soils rich in slate and other minerals.
Cellers Scala Dei produces a range of wines, including their flagship wine, the Scala Dei Prior. This wine is made from a blend of Garnacha, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and is aged in French oak barrels for 12-16 months. The wine is known for its complex aromas of red fruits, spices and minerals, as well as its full and well-structured palate.
In addition to their Prior wine, Cellers Scala Dei also produces a range of other wines, including the Scala Dei Garnatxa, a red wine made from Garnacha grapes, and the Scala Dei Masdeu, a white wine made from Garnacha Blanca grapes. These wines are all made from carefully selected grapes and are aged for varying periods of time in French oak barrels.
