This is a textbook example of what a Barbera Superiore should taste like.
Intense in taste with velvet cherries in the foreground. Soft and ripe tannins that completely envelop the juice. A long finish that screams for a nice piece of meat!

La Meridiana 'Tra La Terra e Il Cielo' is a Barbera from selected grapes from vines that are heavily pruned in early August. This leaves only an average of three bunches on each stick to fully ripen. The result is a beautifully complex wine! After vinification, the wine remains in new barriques for 12 months.
Tenuta La Meridiana is an old winery with a long history, having been founded in 1890. It is located in the hamlet of Tana Alta in the area of Montegrosso d'Asti, located in the Monferrato region. Today it covers approximately 11 hectares and the total annual production is approximately 80,000 bottles. Federico is the 5th generation of winemakers. He works in a traditional but innovative way and is very terroir driven. He mainly makes wines from Barbera, the queen of Piedmont. The soils are made of marl, clay and tuff. The vineyards are located in a south/southeast exposure on the hills around Asti.
The La Meridiana range consists of various Barberas, both without wood aging and with wood aging (Superiore), and two crus from a single vineyard. In addition, a Nebbiolo-Barbera blend is made and a little bit of white wine. As a special feature, she also produces a sweet Malaga wine: because Gianpiero's grandmother liked this Spanish wine so much, her husband planted some of this grape variety, and according to good family tradition, this wine is still made (also for sale with us).
La Meridiana makes wines of consistently high quality that are characterized by an excellent price-quality ratio, both in their base wines and in the crus.
