After the French wine family Daure undertook a study trip to South America in 1996, they are so impressed by the possibilities of Chile as a wine country in particular that they decide to live there. The choice was made for the Colchagua valley, where many similarities with French culture are present.
The eight enterprising Françaises who set up the innovative project, from vineyard to winemaker and seller, are immortalized in the labels of the reserve line. They form a kind of family album in which the portraits tell the history of the vineyard. Like the faces of President Regine Dauré and her daughters Alix and Margaux who took on the development of the Las Niñas Carmenère
The grapes for the Reserva Las Niñas line are manually harvested in boxes of 12 kg, after which the grapes are placed on the selection table. Only the best fruit is selected for vinification. The vineyard covers 160 ha in the Colchagua valley near Apalta. The bottom, consisting of granite sand, ensures perfect water management. This is very important because of the hot dry summer and the large temperature differences (> 25 degrees between noon and night).
We also make Sauvignon Blanc ourselves from a composition of two styles. It is dusty, tightly dry and a delicious salad accompaniment!
