Vin Orange. Copper colored, complex aromas, different and interesting. Pushes your wine boundaries. No guts, no glory! Read more
At Les Jamelles they are jacks of all trades and not averse to an experiment. For example, they are now adding a ‘Vin Orange’ to their range. Not from oranges, not from the place Orange, but by soaking the peels of the Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Muscat, Gewürztraminer and Chenin Blanc in the juice for about 8 hours. This short soaking process before the grapes are pressed, also ensures a somewhat orange copper colour but also with an exceptional flavour palette. Aromas that are reminiscent of subtle, spicy notes of ginger, cumin, juniper, cloves and gingerbread, as well as nuances of candied orange peel and bergamot. Very delicate, fresh, supple and harmonious in the mouth. A light black pepper in the aftertaste. The light tannins (yes, due to the soaking of the peel) leave an impression of freshness and tightness.
Serve it slightly chilled as a fine match with Mediterranean vegetables such as a “tian” of slow roasted eggplant or pepper in olive oil. Exciting combination with an Indian curry.
