Pietrame Trebbiano d'Abruzzo comes from the Abruzzo wine region and is made from Trebbiano. Trebbiano is perhaps the most widely planted grape in Italy. The trick is to limit yields, which increases quality. The location near the Adriatic Sea ensures that a fresh wind always blows over the slopes, which somewhat moderates the heat of the sun.
The name Abruzzo is derived from the Latin Aprutium which means 'Land of the pigs'. After gentle pressing, the juice undergoes clarification and alcoholic fermentation at low temperature follows. The wine is then aged for several months in stainless steel tanks, with occasional stirring of the lees before bottling.
