Rich, complex, citrusy 'skin fermented' Slovenian wine with light oxidative notes and a little bit of tannin. Read more
The Furmint from the Zavec brothers comes from a very special place in Slovenia. They are planted in so-called Haloze's. A kind of bowl-shaped landscape shape. In these vineyards the soil consists of hard marl and sandstone, which gives the wines a lot of minerality in the aftertaste. The bowl shape ensures that the vines receive a lot of sun and the heat is retained at night. The roots also have to grow very deep to find enough moisture to survive. A real terroir wine. The Furmint is vinified as a light orange wine. Hand harvested and with a maceration on their skins of 5 days, unfiltered and then aged for 6 months on the lees in barriques. The result is very tasty. The Furmint has a bright yellow gold color with green reflections. Aromatic nose, rich in mineral and citrus notes, with apple, hay and a light note of pepper. Extremely fresh on the palate, crisp, medium acidity, round, with a pleasant mineral note. Try it with roasted chicken with lemon and herbs or roasted vegetables such as carrots, pumpkin, parsnips and beets. The roasted flavors are enhanced by the light oxidative notes of the wine. In any case, what matters here is that you can feel free to experiment with your dish.
